[What about Clinton's other scandals?]

Whatever Happened To The Other Scandals?
The president has been impeached, but the list of crimes he is suspected of
being involved with continues to grow.
BY G. RUSSELL EVANS
CAPTAIN USCG (RET.)
Whatever happened to the other scandals Bill Clinton was caught in? The
names "Chinagate," "Filegate" and "Travelgate" all seem to have been swept
under the rug.
"Chinagate" refers to national defense technology sold to Communist China so
the nation that calls the United States its "main enemy" could perfect its
intercontinental missiles.
"Filegate" involved FBI files being illegally used against perceived
Clinton-Gore enemies. "Travelgate" was where loyal White House travel office
employees were smeared and fired so the Clintons could hire their own friends.
"Canalgate" is where Communist Chinese ally Hutchison Whampoa was accepted
as "gatekeeper" of the Panama Canal in violation of the Canal Treaties.
"IRSgate" involved tax returns being used to intimidate Clinton-Gore
opponents. In addition, there is the laundering of money through defense
funds and illegal campaign fundraising from public buildings.
These are extremely serious matters. Didn't we taxpayers hire the special
prosecutor and Congress to protect us? We have breaches of national security
at the highest level, including the selling of defense technology for
campaign contributions, illegal use of federal agencies and illegal
fundraising and money laundering.
FOCUS ON MONICAGATE
The media have glossed over these scandals, as have most Republican leaders,
particularly since the mid-term elections where they took a licking and the
Clinton popularity polls rose.
The focus has been Monicagate and sex, while downplaying perjury, witness
tampering and obstruction of justice. Except for Reps. Bob Barr (R-Ga.) and
Gerald Solomon (R-N.Y.), Republicans have been silent about these other
scandals that undermine the integrity and foundation of the American system.
By their silence they are accepting these crimes and, therefore, the leaders
of both parties are accessories after the fact. They, along with Ken Starr,
are culpable for not doing their duty. Our country must be governed by laws,
not public opinion polls.
With four years and $40 million, there's no excuse for only Monicagate. For
example, within a few weeks Travelgate could have been handled. It clearly
involved misuse of the Justice Department, the FBI and the IRS to destroy
the White House travel office workers by order of the first lady. Prompt
action could have put the skids on other Clinton-Gore outrages.
MISSILE GUIDANCE TO RED CHINA
How could Congress fail to give the very highest priority to immediate and
thorough investigation of the known sale of missile-guidance technology to
Communist China in an apparent quid pro quo for China's donation of $2
million to the 1996 Clinton-Gore reelection campaign?
Art. II, Sec. 4 of the Constitution requires removal from office of the
president for treason and bribery. Art. III, Sec. 3 defines treason as
"adhering to [our] Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort."
Also involved are U.S. firms, Loral Space and Communications and Hughes
Electronics, who also donated millions to the Clinton-Gore campaign, got the
waiver and sold the missile technology. President Clinton said: "These
donations do not affect our policy toward China." Gen. Eugene Habiger of the
Strategic Air Command said: "Now China has a missile capability that can
reach most of the United States."
The shameful retreat of congressional Republicans at the prospect of
presidential impeachment is dereliction of duty-and the announcement of
House Judiciary Chairman Henry Hyde (R-Ill.) not to seek more facts is
disgraceful. Equally disgraceful are the other Republicans who, before the
elections, were hot to examine evidence of all impeachable offenses. Now,
after the elections and polls, they want to "put this matter behind us."
They do not have carte blanche to fold their tent and depart. They are bound
by oath to "support [this] Constitution" (Art. VI). Their duty is clear.
Malfeasance and misfeasance are at stake. Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott
(R-Miss.) must not be allowed to set precedents that undermine the office of
the presidency and Congress.
Edmund Burke, English statesman (1729-1797) had it right: "He trespasses
against his duty who sleeps upon his watch as well as he who goes over to
the enemy . . . " We have to wake up and wake up Congress.

Mainstream Media Discover Old Story
News flash: Your president sired a child with a black prostitute.
EXCLUSIVE TO THE SPOTLIGHT
By SPOTLIGHT Staff
The national media is buzzing with the news that President Bill Clinton has
an illegitimate 14-year-old son, Danny, born to a black woman, who is a
former drug addict and prostitute named Bobbie Ann Williams.
If all of this sounds vaguely familiar, it's because you perhaps first read
it here in The SPOTLIGHT in our issue of Dec. 14.
The boy and his family are now going public and want to know if DNA tests
will confirm that the president is the teen-ager's father.
As The SPOTLIGHT noted on Dec. 14, the story actually was first published on
Sept. 15, 1992, by The Truth At Last, a Georgia-based newspaper.
Later, the story was picked up by Slick Times, a humor magazine devoted to
satirizing Bill and Hillary Clinton. The publisher of Slick Times even
offered a sizable reward to anyone who could disprove the story. But there
were no takers.
Internet "gossip" columnist Matt Drudge and The Star, a supermarket tabloid,
are getting the credit for "breaking" the story, but the truth is
Clinton-watchers have known for years about the allegations which were
evidently common knowledge in Little Rock.
Although it is now becoming clear that many "big name" journalists were
fully aware of the story, this latest scandal to tarnish the
adulterer-in-chief is only now just reaching the attention of the American
public, courtesy of the news arbiters in the major media who have appointed
themselves as the guardians of "what's news" and "when the news is fit to
print."
The SPOTLIGHT actually first heard of the Clinton-Bobbie Williams affair
long before Clinton's presidential campaign, when a former Little Rock
district magistrate, Travis W. McCoy, supplied this newspaper with
photocopied handbills exposing the affair (and the existence of the
illegitimate child) that had been circulated in Little Rock by "Say" McIntosh.
McIntosh, a black man in Little Rock, charged that then-Gov. Clinton had a
predilection for adulterous affairs with women of color. Evidently,
McIntosh's allegations also reached the hands of the national media which,
at the time, was beginning to take a look at Clinton's reputation as a
womanizer.
But the story remained buried, even though The Truth At Last broke the story
at the height of the 1992 presidential campaign. If the major media had done
its job and the story had come out at that time, it might have been enough
to stop Clinton's campaign dead in its tracks.
What the Danny Williams story will mean for Clinton's impeachment remains to
be seen, but the fact that the story was suppressed for so long by the
self-styled "mainstream" media should send a signal to American voters that
they simply cannot rely on that media for the news they need to know.
The SPOTLIGHT is planning to continue its investigation into the Clinton affair.
